THE REAL
JOHN McQUEENEY

The censure

Censured by his own party.

On May 8, 2025 — four months into his first term — the Tarrant County Republican Party voted 87–46 to formally censure its own state representative. His own county chairman, Bo French, led the charge.

The censure resolution accused McQueeney of:

"McQueeny, with the support of Abbott and President Trump, still ain't cuttin it with these folks."— James Russell, Quorum Report, on the May 8, 2025 censure vote

The censure asked the state party to block him from the 2026 primary ballot. When your own party tries to throw you off the ballot, that's not a disagreement — that's a verdict.

The money

The $1.4 million casino candidate.

$1,397,404.22

That's how much casino magnate Miriam Adelson's Texas Defense PAC spent to get John McQueeney elected, according to Texas Ethics Commission data. Las Vegas Sands' own PAC added $55,000 more. He won that 2024 runoff by about 300 votes.

"If we want to get real about property tax relief, we need to get real about revenue generation."— John McQueeney, on bringing destination resort casinos to Texas

When one Las Vegas billionaire outspends your entire district's voice, who do you think he answers to in Austin?

Public schools

Not a friend of teachers or public schools.

The record

Straight culture-war votes.

While Fort Worth families worried about property taxes and insurance rates, here's what got his "yes":

Constituents

In their own words.

July 29, 2025: a Crowley constituent photographed McQueeney on his phone during public testimony at a redistricting hearing. The post drew 68 likes and 34 comments — overwhelmingly from his own district:

"Our Texas house representative, John Mcqueeney, couldn't be bothered to even get off his phone and listen to the fraction of the 100's of people speaking out at the redistricting hearing."

— Joan Elizabeth Barrett, Crowley, TX — Facebook, July 29, 2025

"Remember this behavior at election time. He doesn't deserve to be in office. He doesn't care."

— Crowley constituent — Facebook, Aug 1, 2025

"Vote him out!"

— Crowley constituent — Facebook, July 29, 2025

"MAYBE HE DESERVES TO NOT BE REELECTED"

Follow the money

Funded by the industries he regulates.

Miriam Adelson — Texas Defense PAC (casinos)$1,397,404

Plus energy, auto-dealer, and beer-distributor PAC money. And for all that: Texans for Fiscal Responsibility rates his taxpayer record just 72 out of 100. Even the conservative scorekeepers grade him a C.
